An analog orchestra of electric harpsichords, Moog synthesizers, Mellotrons, twangy guitars, soft girl vocals and celestial harmonies create a haunting, ethereal mood. A synthesis of psychedelia, dream pop, orchestral baroque pop, 1960s soundtracks, kraut-rock and spaghetti western.
Melinda and Hunter Lea (Mono In VCF) were joined in the studio by drummer Mark Pickerel (Screaming Trees, Truly), harmony singers Suzi Jane Hokom (Lee Hazlewood, International Submarine Band) & Wendell Ratliff and percussionist Rick King…heavily utilizing Hal Blaine’s vintage tambourines and shakers. Their debut album Distant Horizons was mixed by Brian Kehew (Air, The Moog Cookbook) and mastered by Martin Feveyear (Mark Lanegan, Brandi Carlile).
The 1970s sci-fi music video for “I See Through You” (directed by Lael Rogers) was screened at the Seattle International Film Festival, The Tacoma Film Festival, Hollyshorts and more. The band composed incidental music for Allison Anders film “Strutter."
